    Gerry Kogel (born 1924), mother, grandmother and wonderful friend passed away after a brief illness at the Parker Home in New Brunswick on January 21, 2012.
     She was a brilliant self-taught woman who established herself as a nursing home administrator and worked for the Daughters of Israel,Twin Oaks, and Chestnut Hill during a career spanning four decades. A social activist, an avid gardener, and an extraordinary friend who was cherished by all those who had the pleasure to know her.
    She leaves behind her daughter Gale, (with whom she lived for a short time), of Millburn and son Joe who along with their own families will always basque in the warm memories of this special person.
     The family requests that contributions in her name be made to the Alzheimer's Association, Greater NJ Chapter, 400 Morris Ave, suite 251, Denville, NJ 07834 or the Francis E. Parker Memorial Home, 501 Easton Avenue, New Brunswick, NJ 08901.
    Arrangements are under the direction of the Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick, NJ.
