Shannon Galvin of Maplewood, a senior at Oak Knoll in Summit, signed her National Letter of Intent on Feb. 2 to play collegiate lacrosse at Villanova Universiy.
Galvin committed to Villanova in the fall to play lacrosse as a midfielder. She plans to study liberal arts.
"Signing my National Letter of Intent is a huge feeling of relief because I have worked so hard my entire high school career to play lacrosse at the college level," said Galvin, who has been a team captain at Oak Knoll. "Signing my NLI makes it feel real instead of just a verbal commitment."
Galvin has also been a member of Oak Knoll’s varsity basketball team and the junior varsity field hockey team in addition to the school newspaper, yearbook, Operation Smile club, and a peer leader.
“After all this hard and constant contact with coaches, I am so excited to be going on to play lacrosse at Villanova,” she said. “I’m so excited for college in general and being able to play my sport makes it just that much better.”
Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child is an independent Catholic school enrolling boys and girls in kindergarten through grade six; and young women only in grades seven through 12.
