A local organization is in the midst of trying to acquire the Woman’s Club property on Woodland Road, a club
representative said Feb. 25.
“We’re more than half way there,” club President Jo Ann Aponte said of talks with HK Community Fund, a program that joins the neighbors of Maplewood and South Orange in meeting its educational, community and cultural needs.
Tom Kerns, a former Wall Street businessman who started the nonprofit, did not return phone calls seeking comment.
Aponte would not discuss sales price. “We can’t say,” she said.
She said a contract has not been signed.
