Woman's Club gala day is 'sad'

The 94th anniversary of the Woman's Club of Maplewood ordinarily would be a day to celebrate.

Yet as they walked into their Woodland Road club house Friday afternoon, members knew this would be the last Founder’s Day celebration in the building.

Art Christensen of Maplewood honored the nation’s veterans not just by attending a ceremony on Nov. 11, but by giving them a place to stay at his bed and breakfast on Elmwood Avenue.

Green Day Fair schedule

The fourth annual Maplewood Green Day will be on Oct. 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m., and will feature more than 80 eco-vendors, environmental organizations, health and fitness representatives and organic and local food providers and farmers, a petting zoo, face painting, chair massages and hair styling. Maplewood Green Day Fair is energized

Sustainability is a way of life for Maplewood resident Kerry Tilden.

Last year she made the decision to transform her Rutgers Street house into an eco-friendly zone.
