A “suspicious” fire started Friday inside a vacant two-family house on Hughes Street that is in foreclosure, authorities said.

Gerard Garuba, paralyzed from the waist down, won’t have to struggle to get around anymore, thanks to a Maplewood police officer.

Maplewood on Tuesday approved a plan for Essex County to conduct a deer hunt in South Mountain Reservation beginning in January.
