Sally Horner Hellring, 90, long-time resident of South Orange, died peacefully at home on August 11, 2012.
She was the beloved wife of the late Bernard Hellring, adored mother of Margaret Dee Hellring (Charles Oransky), Heidi Horner Hellring (Nathan Arnell), and the late Bernard Hellring Jr., cherished Nanny of Bess Esther Oransky (Craig deLaurier), Matthew Saul Oransky (Matthew Willard), Jonas Ezra Oransky (Maisie Tivnan), Isaac Ben Oransky, Bernard Maxwell Arnell and Jessica Hellring Arnell, and great grandchildren Samuel Phillip deLaurier and Eli Benjamin deLaurier.

Venant Anglade, 70, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 22, 2012, at his home in South Orange, N.J., surrounded by his loving family.

Township enforcement of new ordinance will coincide with state and Essex County requirements

Some residents recently expressed concern about the decision of the Maplewood Township Committee to put its foot down about recycling come September.
On Sept 1, Maplewood will begin to enforce an ordinance that is already in place about recycling, to coincide with state and Essex County requirements. Although some residents agree that recycling will be good for the community, concerns about recycling requirements and education have arisen.
The ordinance states that no recyclable materials shall be disposed of as part of solid waste pickup, which includes all paper, glass, cardboard, aluminum containers and even things like batteries.

On Aug 23, at 5:45 p.m., a three-alarm fire occurred on Hamilton Road in South Orange.
The South Orange Fire Department received a call from police of a house on fire and immediately responded, according to fire department reports.
The fire started on the back deck of the residence and caused damage to the roof, interior kitchen and dining room areas of the house. The fire burned for approximately 10 minutes; however, according to reports, the fire department did not leave the scene until 6:30 p.m.
No one was in the residence at the time of the fire.
One firefighter sustained a minor injury.
