Mafalda Carmiche
Mafalda Carmiche, nee Acone, 74, of Maplewood died Feb. 25 at St.
Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston. Born in Orange, she lived in
Maplewood for many years. Mrs. Carmiche is survived by her husband
of 55 years, Michael G.; two daughters, Rosetta and Doreen; a son,
Michael G. Jr.; a sister, Carmella; and six grandchildren.
Barbara J. Wielandt
Barbara Jane “BJ” Wielandt, nee Maybeck, of Maplewood and
Northport, N.Y., died Feb. 27. Mrs. Wielandt was a graduate of
Richmond Hill High School, Queens, N.Y., and earned bachelor’s and
master’s degrees from Hunter College, N.Y., where she was in the
Phi Beta Kappa Society. A Civilian Air Patrol plane spotter and
farm worker during World War II, Mrs. Wielandt was also a teacher
in the West Hempstead, N.Y., elementary schools. She was an active
member of the Northport Historical Society and antique shop
manager, North Shore Civil War roundtable member, and Huntington
senior tap dancer. She was a member of The First Church of Christ,
Scientist in Boston, Mass., and a Friend of the Northport, N.Y.,
Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Wielandt was predeceased by her husband,
Frederick Michael Jr. She is survived by three daughters, Claudia
Sohr, Kirsten Morgan and Heather Rosenman; a brother, Harold F.
Maybeck; and six grandchildren.
