Nicola Caruso
Nicola Caruso, 63, of Maplewood died Aug. 29 in Saint Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston. Born in Alberona, Italy, Mr. Caruso came to the United States in 1958 at the age of 11, and resided in Orange. He was employed by ShopRite for many years and worked at Pathmark in South Orange most recently. Mr. Caruso is survived by his sisters, Antonietta Lembo and Brigida Caruso; brother, Angelo; and many other family members.
Richard Kirwin
Richard Kirwin, 83, of Clover, S.C., formerly of Maplewood, died Aug. 29 in the Wayne T. Patrick Hospice House, S.C. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Kirwin lived in Maplewood for more than 70 years before moving to S.C. three years ago. He attended Princeton University and was a veteran of the Army. Mr. Kirwin was employed as a broker for the Frank B. Hall Insurance Co. in New York City for 35 years and was a member of the Maplewood Garden Club.
June E. S. Bertschy
June E. Stevens Bertschy, 85, of Maplewood died Aug. 26 in South Mountain Rehab Center, Vauxhall. Born in Orange, Mrs. Bertschy was a resident of Maplewood for the past 80 years. She was a sales clerk for G.M. Stark Stores in Maplewood from 1960 until 1980. Prior to that she worked for Prudential Insurance Co. She was a member of Maplewood Seniors. Mrs. Bertschy is survived by her husband, Howard; daughter, Barbara; son, Steven; brother, F. Russell Stevens; and two grandchildren.
